About Us

Supreme Royal Association of Herbal Practitioners (SURAHEP)

The Supreme Royal Association of Herbal Practitioners is the sovereign guardian of indigenous healing arts in Nigeria and across Africa. Established on a foundation of royal authority and modern administrative structure, SURAHEP is the only institution of its kind on the continent. The Association unites traditional medicine practitioners under one national body dedicated to preserving, promoting, and elevating African healing heritage.

SURAHEP protects traditional knowledge, guides ethical practice, and ensures that indigenous medicine remains respected, organized, and accessible. Through structured leadership and national coordination, the Association strengthens cultural identity, professional standards, and community health across all regions of Nigeria.

National Command

The National Command is led by His Royal Majesty, The Supreme Royal Patron, who serves as the National President. He is the custodian of indigenous medical knowledge and the principal authority responsible for national policy and direction. All Zonal Sovereigns report directly to His Majesty. The National Command sets the national agenda and ensures that traditional medicine is recognized as an essential pillar of healthcare and culture.

Zonal Command

Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones serve as the operational centers of SURAHEP. Each zone is led by a Zonal Sovereign, either a King or Queen of Traditional Medicine. They coordinate activities across their zone, unify state-level efforts, manage regional resources, and ensure effective implementation of national policies. Zonal Sovereigns report exclusively to the National President.

State Command

Every state, including the Federal Capital Territory, is led by a Principal State Chief of Traditional Medicine. These leaders act as executive officers responsible for state-level implementation, practitioner regulation, administrative coordination, and resource mobilization. They supervise all Local Government Command Chiefs within their state and maintain direct communication with their respective Zonal Sovereign.

Local Command

Local Government Command Chiefs are the community-level leaders responsible for grassroots engagement. They oversee practitioner registration, ethical standards, local data collection, and community healing initiatives. Their work ensures that traditional medicine remains active, protected, and effective at the community level.

Powers and Distinctions

SURAHEP holds a unique mandate within Africa. The Association grants national distinctions such as Peace Ambassador Titles and Honor Awards recognizing excellence in healing, leadership, and community service. It also possesses the exclusive authority to appoint Traditional Medicine Kings and Queens across Nigeria, elevating practitioners into positions of cultural and administrative leadership. The Association follows international protocols and engages with global health systems to strengthen the global recognition of African traditional medicine.

Mission and Objectives

SURAHEP is committed to preserving indigenous healing knowledge, promoting responsible practice, strengthening national unity, and recognizing outstanding practitioners. The Association works to integrate African traditional medicine into global cultural and health frameworks, ensuring its relevance for future generations.

Vision

SURAHEP envisions a future where traditional medicine holds equal dignity with modern healthcare, where Nigeria stands as the global center of indigenous healing arts, and where practitioners are empowered, respected, and united under one national structure. The Association aims to elevate African cultural heritage and showcase its healing wisdom to the world.

Unique Status in Africa

SURAHEP is the only organization of its kind on the African continent. Its royal structure, national reach, and strong cultural mandate make it a leading model for the preservation and advancement of traditional medicine. The Association stands as a symbol of unity, heritage, and national pride, committed to shaping a healthier and culturally grounded future.
